hey, i'm in grade 11, and i have two other guys that are in grade 11 as well, and we'd love to show up to this lan, seeing is that it's really the only one in halifax...
anyway, i was wondering the background to the cs 1.6 tournament, like 5 on 5? how many do you really expect to be there? like last time was it a big event? just wondering, never been to a lan that's been a huge amount of games ;P
thanks !:)

Hey Mitch
Last year was phenomenal (120-150), and this year we expect more people (300+)!
CS is most likely Last Man Standing rather than 5v5, which works out well for having a lot of games in one event in ONE day. This way anybody will be able to play CS regardless if they have a team or not =)
I agree there aren't many lans in Halifax, and that's one reason why we've started!Posted 1 year ago # -
sweet hahah, also, which building is it located in? not really too sure with all of the buildings around halitown ;)

OH and if it is bring your own computer or not
Posted 1 year ago # -
Mitchtalbot - the building is called the Student Union Building, which is right across from the McCain Building, just before the end of University ave. The computers will be at the event, and the only thing you'll need is to bring yourself and your skills :)
If it is still unclear where to building is, let me know and I will give you a more detailed description.

#down2frag (from Truro/Halifax) plans on attending if it's 5v5. #repulsive from New Brunswick is considering it too, as long as it's 5v5.

Nate, an update will be posted on facebook/website with the exact game rules/tournaments (or at least outlines of them). Currently we are in progress on making final decision and we realize that people need to plan, but we are also unsure what kind of demand there will be for the tournament type -> if we go with LMS we will get a great amount of single players who don't have the team. However if we do get activity from teams, I see no reason for not going ahead with 5v5.
I am not promising it, as matters need to be discussed. I can promise however that the update will be posted soon.

Take the single players and draw names out of hats for teams of five. : D

Nate
It's official, CS 1.6 is 5v5 WCG Rules.Posted 1 year ago # -
I will make a separate thread about the rules soon. We are trying to get the description done as soon as possible, but I would say that the CS rules will be common sense/WCG. The only thing that might change are the rules that change the length of the game, as you realize the event is 1-day long, and we will have a lot of people. So I will keep you guys updated.

No map exploits. Knife for T/CT. 32 bit. CEVO config (CAL is dead). Semi finals / finals are best of three. Semi finals first round of best of three map is decided by the team with the fewest lost rounds. Second round map is decided by other team. Third round map (if needed) is decided by the lan host. Finals; flip coin for map choice. Winner of coin toss picks first map, loser picks second, lan picks third if needed.
BEST RULES AROUND. Hahaha. Just throwing some ideas out there.

That's why we got forums! Let us know what rules you WANT to see and we'll do our best!

Yeah, these rules is what I generally was thinking. The first pick with knifing or coin toss is what I was inclining to do.
I got a pdf of wcg rules somewhere, I'll post it up soon for discussion. Also with maps, shall we keep the official rotation?
Official Maps: De_Dust2, De_Inferno, De_Nuke , De_TrainLet us know.
